Effective Date: April 1, 2025 · Last updated: September 8, 2026
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have specific rights regarding their personal information. This page explains those rights and how to exercise them.
Who This Applies To
These rights apply to California residents who have interacted with Spark Twice, including applicants, members, and website visitors.
What Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
- Identifiers - First name, email address, IP address
- Personal characteristics - Gender, date of birth, relationship status, location (city, state, postal code)
- Professional information - Profession, education, workplace (if disclosed)
- Photos - Profile photos submitted during the application process
- Biometric information - A numeric face template (a mathematical representation of facial geometry) generated from your photos by Amazon Rekognition to verify your identity and detect duplicate or fraudulent accounts. See our Privacy Policy for the full biometric disclosure, consent, and retention-and-destruction schedule.
- Behavioral data - Application responses, compatibility preferences, platform activity
- Security and fraud signals - IP-based approximate location and VPN, proxy, or Tor detection, used only to prevent fraud and fake accounts
- Sensitive personal information - Including biometric identifiers (above); religion or faith; racial or ethnic origin; sexual orientation and the gender you are seeking; and information about your relationships and your financial circumstances that you choose to provide
- Payment information - Processed through EasyPayDirect (our payment processor, on the NMI gateway); we do not store card numbers, which are tokenised and held by the processor
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use or disclose your sensitive personal information for any purpose other than providing the matchmaking service you applied for. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Your Rights
Right to Know
You have the right to request disclosure of the personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the business purpose for collecting it, and any third parties we share it with.
Right to Delete
You have the right to request deletion of personal information we have collected from you. If you are a member, the fastest way is in the app itself: open Settings in your member dashboard and choose Delete my account. You can also submit a deletion request using the form below.
When you request deletion, we permanently remove your personal data — including your photos and your biometric face template — within 30 days, and in all cases within the 45 days that the CCPA allows. Certain minimal records may be retained where the law requires it (for example, transaction records for tax and accounting).
Right to Correct
You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing
Spark Twice does not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with third parties for cross-context behavioural advertising. You may still submit a "Do Not Sell or Share" request using the form below.
Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information
We collect sensitive information — including your biometric face template, photos, faith, ethnicity, sexual orientation and partner preferences, and details about your relationships and financial circumstances — only as necessary to review your application and provide our matchmaking service. We do not use it to infer characteristics about you or for any secondary purpose. You may request that we limit our use of this information to providing the core service using the form below.
Right to Non-Discrimination
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights. Exercising these rights will not affect your service status.
Response Time
We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and provide a full response within 45 calendar days. If we need more time (up to 90 days), we will notify you.
Submit a Privacy Request
Use this form to exercise your California privacy rights. We will respond within 45 days.
Authorised Agent
You may designate an authorised agent to submit a request on your behalf. The agent must provide written permission signed by you, and we may verify your identity directly.
